Hi have a quick question about Sweet Orange EO.  Got new chair and was wondering if I could use 5 drops of EO on a towel placed on back of chair to keep kitty from scratching it.  Don't want to hurt kitty[smile]

Thanks!

Hello,

Latest studies show that citrus oils (rich in monoterpene) are toxic to cats. Cats are even more sensitive to essential oils than dogs, and it would be best if you'd avoid using them around your cat. Some cats get toxic build-up in their bodies and manifest later, even if they don't show obvious signs of poisoning right away.

Unfortunately there are not many tests or studies on the effects of all essential oils on pets but most of them are toxic to cats especially. Maybe you could buy your kitty a scratching post (tree bark like, not fluffy) and encourage her to scratch only the post [smile]

Good Luck!

Thank you for your reply[smile]  I have decided to give my nebulizer and EO's to my daughter as she has no pets.  So far the kitties have not touched the new furniture.  Put some catnip on the scratchers and they have been faithful to use them.  Guess I got lucky!
