I am in the home health care business and am looking to produce cleaning products with essential oils and are not as toxic as over the counter cleaners, with the exeption of few naturals. Does anyone know how I can get recipes for cleaners? Thanks Lynn

I believe the Auroma site has some simple recipes for household cleaners using spirits of orange as a base - fantastic! Have been using it for years now in my own home and as a vital ingredient for surface cleaners, household soaps, and furniture polishes. There are many old recipes that I've adapted from Mrs Grieves Herbal - also look in 500 Formulas for Aromatherapy by the Schillers for a whole bunch of recipes. Your choice of essential oils and essences will depend on the task at hand for the product. Remember there are many essential oils that carry 'warning's for use on humans simply because they are potentially quite powerful. These are the oils you would want to consider for household cleaning for that very reason. Also % concentration is obviously kept to within certain limits for use on the skin and inhalation etc. Cleaning preparations are likely to require higher % concentrations than for human skin or close inhalation use. Many of these 'heavy duty' oils have rather less 'fragrant' aromas so you'd need to consider softening or sweetening with other more popularly fragrant oils when blending to create an attractive marketable product. I can hoik out my own recipes from past teaching programs if you're interested. Just let me know. Hope this helps Cx
